Michalis Axarlis
Head Portfolio Strategist
Michalis Axarlis is Head Portfolio Strategist at Mirror Trades, with a strong academic background in mathematics, statistics, and quantitative analysis. He is a graduate of the Department of Mathematics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, holds a master’s degree in Theoretical Mathematics, and is a Ph.D. candidate whose research focuses on asymptotic statistics in nonparametric stochastic models.
His involvement in the financial markets began with his interest in the connection between mathematical models, probabilities, and real-world investment decisions. Over time, he developed an active presence in various markets and investment products, studying Forex, stock market derivatives, futures, options, and cryptocurrencies. What appealed to him most was the need to make decisions under conditions of uncertainty, where returns must always be evaluated in conjunction with the risk taken.
At Mirror Trades, he is responsible for the strategic framework and the evaluation of Forex strategies. His work includes analyzing the performance of individual strategies, studying their risk characteristics, determining capital allocations, and developing different approaches based on each investor’s profile and risk tolerance. It places particular emphasis on drawdown management, the proper use of stop-loss orders, diversification across strategies, and the evaluation of their overall performance under different market conditions.
His approach combines practical market experience with tools for statistical analysis, modeling, and simulation. Rather than focusing exclusively on a strategy’s historical performance, he examines the consistency of results, volatility, potential extreme losses, and how different strategies interact within a single portfolio. For him, a sound investment approach is not based on individual successful trades, but on a structured and repeatable risk management process.
Through Mirror Trades, his goal is to help create a more transparent and systematic environment for copy trading. He believes that investors must understand not only the potential returns, but also the risks, volatility, and rationale behind each portfolio. His philosophy is based on discipline, objective data analysis, and the development of long-term strategies that approach capital management with professionalism and responsibility.
